Jaina McKoy is a Guest Research Trainee via the Summer Undergraduate Internship Program. She is a junior biochemistry major at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, and is originally from Rockaway, New Jersey. At her previous lab, Jaina conducted research exploring the anti-cancer activity of an inhibitory peptide targeting transcription factors E2F1-3A, in combination with radiation treatment, in lung cancer cell lines in Dr. Bruce Haffty’s Lab at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. At Penn, Jaina aims to explore research interests in the field of neurodegeneration to set a foundation for future work exploring the neural effects of chemotherapy and potential connections to Alzheimer’s Disease. In her free time, Jaina enjoys spending time with friends, solving puzzles, and playing video games.
